The nativity story film
Introduction
A new film, out in time for Christmas, tells The Nativity Story, the story of the birth of Jesus. Using images from the film, and the original text of the Bible, we tell the story of Jesus' birth in eight short episodes.
The angel Gabriel
Visiting ElizabethMary is viisted by an angel, Gabriel, who tells her she will give birth to the Son of God.
Mary visits her relative, Elizabeth, who is also pregnant, carrying a boy who will become John the Baptist.
Mary’s song
Joseph’s doubtMary gives thanks to God for blessing her in such an amazing way. Her song is still sung in churches today.
Joseph is naturally sceptical about Mary’s story of how she became pregnant.
Going to Bethlehem
The shepherdsThe Romans have a plan to squeeze more tax which involves everyone returning to their home town.
Out in the fields of Bethlehem at night, a group of shepherds are surprised by a host of angels.
The Magi
Escaping BethlehemAstrologers travel from the east to Jerusalem, searching for a newborn king, and meet King Herod.
King Herod orders the killing of all newborn boys in Bethlehem, but Mary, Joseph and Jesus escape.
