The Rich Fool by Jim Janknegt
Before you look at the video diary read through the parable yourself to familiarise yourself with its detail.
During one of Jesus’ public teaching sessions he was asked by a man in the crowd to sort out an argument about dividing inheritance. The Rich Fool was his answer. Read the incident for yourself. |
Follow Jim’s creative process through these five video diaries. Jim shares his studio with a small menagerie some of whom are quite raucous. |
Stills, details and close ups of the work, images of Jim’s studio. |

Rejesus is developing a tradition of commissioning artists to produce work about Jesus. We started with photographer Lizzie Everard and then poet Jude Simpson. Now comes painter Jim Janknegt.
We’ve had our eye on Jim’s wonderful icons from gospel stories for some time and we were delighted when he agreed to our brief to paint his interpretation of The Rich Fool.
