Everyday sayings of Jesus
Jesus wept!
Most Christians are not over-fond of hearing people exclaim, “Jesus wept!” as it’s a form of blasphemy, using the name of Jesus in a casual and inappropriate way.
The words come from one of the most moving stories in the four Gospels, where Lazarus, a friend of Jesus, has died. As Jesus is shown the tomb of his friend, he begins to cry. “Jesus wept” is also the shortest verse in the whole Bible. Here it is…
He said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to him, “Lord, come and see.” Jesus wept. Then the Jews said, “See how he loved him!”
