In five short pieces for Christmas, we follow the main characters of the story – Jesus, Mary, Joseph, shepherds and angels, and the wise men – as seen in an Eastern icon of the Nativity. Christmas is so often sentimentalised and made sugary sweet, with cute angels and gurgling babies. We chose this icon, with its unusual take on the Christmas story, to make us take a fresh look at the story of Jesus' birth. A new film, out in time for Christmas, tells The Nativity Story, the story of the birth of Jesus. Using images from the film, and the original text of the Bible, we tell the story of Jesus' birth in eight short episodes.
