Saturday blueHoly Saturday is that strange day between the terrible events of Good Friday and the great hope of Easter Sunday. At least we know what is going to happen next – tomorrow will be a celebration of Jesus resurrection and we will be eating vast amounts of egg shaped chocolate fancies. But the disciples on that first terrible Saturday must have felt gutted. The loss must have been devastating.
They had given up their lives to follow this man from Galilee – the man they truly believed was the Messiah - and he was dead. Gone. They must have wondered what life would hold for them now…should they go back to their old lives? Stay in the city and get new jobs? Settle down and start families? Or where they going to continue to trust that God would reveal to them what was going to happen next?
I wonder what they talked about that first Saturday without Jesus…
I wonder what they did with their time…
I wonder how they kept their spirits up…
I wonder if they still had hope…
