He’s Alive!

The first person to meet Jesus that first Easter morning was Mary…the tomb, which had been guarded by Roman soldiers, was empty and she was heartbroken – who had taken Jesus? Where was he? But then there he was. She had thought he was the gardener but then she realised it really was Jesus, standing there in front of her. Jesus is Alive!

“It was almost daybreak on Sunday when Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. Suddenly a strong earthquake struck, and the Lord’s angel came down from heaven, He rolled away the stone and sat on it.”
Matthew 28:1-2

I have been to church this morning. I have taken part in the annual Easter Egg hunt and now I am waiting for my roast dinner to cook. As yet I have not managed to eat any chocolate! Today is the best day of the year for me. Jesus is alive. I am set free and I have hope. Because Jesus broke that chain of death by rising from the dead that first Easter Sunday I don’t have to be afraid of death. Death has lost its sting.

There is a great Easter Sunday meditation available on the re:jesus site that reflects on the spiritual content of the Byzantine fresco above and the hope of Easter Sunday.

I pray that you will have a peaceful Easter Sunday and that the hope of the resurrection of Jesus will inspire new life in your heart.

Alleluia. Christ is risen.
He is risen indeed. Alleluia.

Praise God! One of the most powerful things I have heard is that the Easter message is just as valid on a wet Tuesday in September as on a beautiful spring sunday
