Christmas Hope

24/12/09 | Posted by ellen

I don't know about you but this year has at times been quite hard for me - ill health, a few disappointments and a lot of changes. But as Christmas gets closer I am reminded that Jesus brought with him a lot of hope. Hope for a world in desperate need.

Sometimes we only need a little bit of hope to keep us going when things get hard don’t we…it might be something very small that brings us hope - cake and a cup of tea, or a hug, or a smile or someone doing something kind. But a little bit of hope goes a long way. And God knows what a little bit of hope can do…because over 2000 years a little bit of God’s hope was born into our world. Jesus, that little baby – all helpless and totally dependent on his mum – was that glimmer of hope for our world. Hope that one day justice, love, mercy, joy, peace and all the other amazing things we want for ourselves and for our world would be shared out equally amongst all the people on earth. And Jesus is that hope!

If you are in need of the hope that Jesus brought this Christmas then do take a look around the pages of the re:jesus site and find out more. The Nativity Film Story retells the gospel events surrounding Jesus birth, there is a pub quiz and even a chance to sing along to your favourite carols (and loads more).
