Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen has been discussing some of the plans for his next film Bruno. Borat caused such a stir that it led to a number of court cases, but, if anything, the new film looks to go a stage further. More ...

Mary and Jesus appear in lava lamp

16/01/09 | Posted by Ralph | Permalink | (2) Comments

"I had been going through a tough time and was paying for a sign … a divine sign from God that I was not alone and that all would work out fine,” John Smith from Sydney explains on his website, “I turned on my brand new lava lamp and watched in awe as the unmistakeable image of the Holy Mary cradling the Baby Jesus appeared.” More ...

Coronation Street Cross

15/01/09 | Posted by ellen | Permalink | (6) Comments

Many of today’s newspapers have featured a story about the wedding of Coronation Street characters Tyrone Dobbs and Molly Compton. During the fictional ceremony the altar cross, that is usually a prominent feature of the real life church St Mary's in Nether Alderley, Cheshire, was replaced by a candelabra and a flower display. So much fuss has been made about the missing cross that the producers of the popular soap have had to apologize for its absence. More ...

The Six Secrets of Santa

13/12/08 | Posted by feihero | Permalink | (2) Comments

Draw a Father Christmas. Right now. In your mind at the very least. Was he fat? White? Old? Why? There are a lot of images which we see so often, that it's easy to forget we've created them. Or chosen them at least. And we may never stop to question why we've chosen to make them look this particular way. But when a psychologist says - "Draw a... house" - you might be shocked to learn how much more your drawing says about you, than it does about any house you've ever lived in. And the bloke you draw trying to squeeze down the chimney has got even more surprises in his sack. Secrets in fact. And not his secrets – ours! So what does Santa say about the things we really want (not just) for Christmas? More ...

Jack Black as Jesus

09/12/08 | Posted by MattPage | Permalink | (9) Comments

School of Rock star Jack Black has appeared playing Jesus in an internet film. Prop 8 - The Musical was written by Marc Shaiman (Hairspray) as a protest against a new piece of Californian legislation limiting gay rights. Black appears to a bunch of evangelical Christians (played by John C. Reilly and West Wing's Allison Janney) and points out that they seem to pick and choose which parts of the Bible they follow. Jesus goes on to suggest that they should pick the bits that talk about love and not those that are about hate. The film gained an incredible 1.2 million hits in its first day, and reached the 2.5 million mark within just 5 days. The second coming of rejesus

27/11/08 | Posted by Bruce | Permalink | (3) Comments

Rejesus went live in 2002 and we've been fortunate that the first design has lasted so long. The Guardian described it as cool and the NGFL said it was the best website they had seen. But with Web3.0 just around the corner we thought we would kill two birds with one stone: redesign the site at the same time as brining it from static pages in good old HTML to dynamic pages using ExpressionEngine as our content management system. Doctor Who and Jesus - 2 - The Next Doctor

25/11/08 | Posted by Andrew Wooding | Permalink | (7) Comments

Did you see the tantalising preview of the Doctor Who Christmas Special on Children in Need a few days ago? David Tennant in fine form, a snowy Victorian market, a weird unearthly creature emerging from the shadows, and David Morrissey as the title character of the episode: The Next Doctor. But something seems a bit fishy here. Is that really a sonic screwdriver that his assistant Rosita handed him? Why is Rosita’s name so close to that of Rose? And why do ‘the next Doctor’s’ actions remind me of a famous saying of CS Lewis about Jesus? More ...

The elevation of George Best

18/11/08 | Posted by Simon Jenkins | Permalink | (3) Comments

George Best has appeared in a new painting showing him ascending into heaven, in the company of two saints, leaving behind a couple of Page Three lovelies on earth. At least one bishop has been wheeled out to declare that the painting might be offensive to Christians... but what do you think? More ...

Doctor Who and Jesus - 1 - Goodbye to David Tennant

10/11/08 | Posted by Andrew Wooding | Permalink | (2) Comments

Brace yourself for some sad news - although you will have to have been hiding on the Planet Zog not to have heard it already: David Tennant - arguably the most popular Doctor Who ever - has announced he is leaving the role after three seasons and a handful of specials. Yes, after three years of public service, the Tenth Doctor will soon face his death. Fear not, there will be a resurrection and the Doctor will emerge triumphantly from the TARDIS. His followers may not recognise him to start with, but by his actions they will quickly realise that he is still the Doctor ... and all shall be well. More ...

The Christmas Story in Under 30 Seconds

04/11/08 | Posted by MattPage | Permalink | (0) Comments

A competition has been launched challenging the public to tell the story of Jesus’ birth in just thirty seconds. It’s the latest campaign from the Churches Advertising Network whose previous Christmas campaigns included putting a baby’s head on Che Guvera’s body and describing the Virgin Mary as having a "bad hair day". More ...
